Wissmiller Racing Inc.
History
Wissmiller Racing started in 1989 with the purchase of a Stanley quarter midget and the building of another. Over the next six years Mitch and Kyle would compete across the Midwest accumulating numerous local and regional wins. A few highlights from the quarter midgets would have to be the multiple Indoor Dirt Championships that Kyle won and Mitch's Rregional points championship. In 1995 Kyle was offered a ride in a 125cc micro sprint.
This opportunity proved to be crucial to Kyle's learning curve over the coming years. In the two years in the 125cc class Kyle racked up multiple feature wins, fast times and ended his second season sixth place in national points. In 1997 Mitch would make a move to the 125cc class and Kyle would venture to the 600cc micro sprint class. Mitch's 125cc career was short-lived with him making the move to the 600cc class after two seasons.
After a season of sharing a car in 1999, Jim Mahan entered the scene witha new Bailey micro sprint for Mitch to run for the next season. This would prove to be a very successful season with Mitch bringing home fourteen feature wins and finishing the season with a 1-2 finish in the Pike County Nationals. The next season would bring about a big change for Wissmiller Racing.
Non-wing sprint cars would be the next step for Mitch and Kyle in 2001. With Jim Mahan purchasing an ex - J.J. Yeley car for Mitch and Kyle in a Twister car as well this would be a season of learning. Jim and Mitch would hit on a successful combination winning six features and capturing the MSCS rookie of the year and points championship. Kyle would come away with one feature win and several top five qualifying attempts. Over the next four seasons the team would rise to a level that could compete nationally. Goals for both drivers include USAC victories and racing full-time.
