RACE REPORT - MSCS - MAY 16TH - FLORENCE, KY and VERMILION COUNTY SPEEDWAY - MAY 23RD
Unfortunately, Kyle was involved in an accident at Florence. He was uninjured but the same could not be said for the car. The front axle, radius rods, steering arms, right front wheel and left shock were damaged in the accident. Kyle hit the wall and did a Tommy Tipover. He was scheduled to compete at Terre Haute for the USAC sprint race but those plans changed. Next race - Danville, IL.
Danville was no better. Kyle and another competitor got together in the second heat with Kyle taking quite a ride. Again, he was uninjured but this time the car was damaged extensively. He hopes to be back racing in a couple of weeks.

RACE REPORT - VERMILLION COUNTY SPEEDWAY - DANVILLE, IL - 5-2-09
Kyle started fifth in the 4th heat. He had a torrid battle with brother Mitch for the final transfer spot with Mitch nipping him right at the line for 3rd place. Kyle started outside the front row in the 2nd B-Main and finished 2nd which put him starting 19th in the A-Main. Unfortunately, the track was hard and slick and he was unable to make up much ground and pulled in about halfway through and he ended up finishing 20th. Mitch ended up 7th.

After talking with Kyle last evening, it does not look like the engine will be ready for another two weeks. A miracle has to happen for him to run at Gas City on April 17th. Hopefully, we will be racing somewhere the weekend of April 24th/25th.

Unfortunately, the motor was not done in time to run North Vernon on March 28th. We were hoping to run this Saturday, April 4th, but the part we were needing for the motor will not be here until later on this week. We hoping to have everything ready for the USAC opener at Eldora on April 10th and 11th. We will update you before then.
Also, for your Facebook users, Kyle now has a fan page. It is Kyle Wissmiller Race Fans. Check there for the latest pictures of the car and any last minute updates.
Thanks again to all of our sponsors and supporters. Without you, this would not be possible!!

As the 2008 racing season draws to a close, preparations are beginning for 2009. Mitch's 2008 schedule consisted of selective races as fuel prices slowed travel plans. Although he only made it to a handful of local races, he came away with 3 wins and was competitive at every race. He is currently building a new GRI car for 2009 which he plans to debut in Phoenix, AZ in February. In addition to his own car, Mitch will be back in the 7x owned by Jim Mahan for weekly races at Jacksonville and select local shows. This combination proved to pick up where they left off with a good run at Jacksonville towards the end of the '08 season. With the sprint car plans set, the focus has turned to rebuilding the Onken Incorporated Silver Crown program. Engine trouble plagued the team in '07 after making great progress with a front row starting position at Springfield. 2009 looks to be an exciting year as Mitch's schedule continues to fill.
2008 looked to be a rebuilding year as Kyle parted ways with car owner Bob Price. With plans to establish a team of his own, long time driver/crew chief Scooter Ellis came through with a plan to run the 2009 season together. Kyle will drive the #15 Scooter Ellis, Inc., Twister chassis at local, MSCS & USAC dirt races in the Midwest. In addition to the sprint car, Kyle has had conversations with a few car owners about running select midget shows to fill out his 2009 schedule.
Both Mitch and Kyle will continue to utilize Bell Racing Products, DMI components and Hoosier Tires. They would like to thank these companies along with Mahan's Fiberglass, Onken Incorporated, Oakley, GRI Chassis and K&N Air Filters for their continued support. Continue to check back as updates will be posted weekly. Archive.. |
